YYZ Express: Priority Security at for Domestic and International Flights from Toronto

This week, Toronto Pearson International Airport makes its debut YYZ Expresswhich allows travelers flying to domestic and international destinations to book a time at security, skipping potentially long lines.

The program is free to use and it only takes a few minutes to complete the process online.

For those who don’t have a NEXUS, using this app will really allow you to walk through the airport with ease, rather than wasting time in endless queues. This is especially useful during busy times of the day and during peak travel times, when queues can be much longer than usual.

YYZ Express: Make an appointment in advance for the security-free line

If you are able to plan your arrival at the airport, YYZ Express allows you to schedule time through security for departure to your domestic and international destinations.

Booking a time in advance will allow you to bypass the line and allow you to be at the front of the line for security checks.

The same service is also available for U.S. passengers in Vancouver, called YVR Express.

You can schedule entry to security through YYZ Express 72 hours before your flight departure time.

Passengers departing from Gate D of Terminal 1 can take the YYZ Express from 5:00 a.m.– 2 pm for passengers departing from Terminal 3 Gates B and C from 2 pm to 10 pm.

That is, if your flight departs from Gate D in Terminal 1, you can use the service. Likewise, you can use this service if your flight departs from Gates B or C in Terminal 3.

There is no fee to use YYZ Express, you don’t need to create any account, the whole process can be done in four easy steps:

• go to YYZ Express website within 72 hours of your flight departure time
• Enter your travel dates, flight information, number of people travelling and your email address to receive a QR code

• Arrive at the airport early, go through check-in procedures, and go to the designated security checkpoint within 15 minutes
• Look out for the YYZ Express sign near Gate D in Terminal 1 or Gates B and C in Terminal 3, Check-in Counter 333, show your QR code and go to the front of the line

Note that you can also use YYZ Express at the airport, as long as you have some free time when you arrive. In addition, YYZ Express can have up to 10 passengers using the same QR code.

Passengers connecting in Toronto will not be able to use YYZ Express unless they leave the airport.

If you have a NEXUS card, you will not be able to use YYZ Express as you already have access to separate lanes.

You can cancel or change your reservation at any time by clicking on the appropriate link in the confirmation email.

Check US from YYZ with Mobile Passport

YYZ Express cannot help you if you are travelling from Toronto to the US. Luckily, you can benefit from another program after you’ve passed through security from the US.

Recall that Toronto Pearson International Airport also offers mobile passport control. Since the app was released to Canadians in September 2022, we have received numerous reports that it has saved travelers a significant amount of time at pre-clearance facilities.

Even if you have to wait in the regular line to go through security, you should be able to significantly speed up your entry into the US with mobile passport control.

YYZ Express may expand to U.S. origins and we will be sure to notify you if this happens.
